Fun for the whole family awaits at Terry Bison Ranch and Resort.

The Terry Bison Ranch offers a taste of idyllic Americana - it is literally where the buffalo roam. There is a lot to do here, so be sure to check out the website for more details for special events and more information about the variety of activities available. Terry Bison Ranch is located just over the Colorado/Wyoming border on I25. The ranch opened in 1881 and is steeped in history. It is still a working bison ranch but is also a tourist destination worth the stop.

For free, visitors can wander the grounds and see or pet the horses, ponies, goats, peacocks, alpacas, ostriches, bossy roosters, barn cats, and more. There's even a catwalk above the animal pens where you can observe the animals from above.

The hallmark activity at the Terry Bison Ranch is the bison train! The narrated bison tour lasts an hour and is full of kid-appropriate "dad jokes." The train departs at 9 AM, 12 PM, 3 PM, and 4 PM Daily. (They run more in the summer, so call to confirm tour times.) In the summer, they run open-air train cars, and in the winter, they have an enclosed train car. All cars allow for feeding directly from the train. The train also runs through the animal pens, where you will see ostriches, camels, tons of horses, and goats. Adults cost $20; Kids (4-12) are $10, and 3 and under are free.

The Terry Bison Ranch also offers guided horseback rides for eight and older ages. The tour is on the Terry Bison Ranch property and provides an opportunity to see lots of wildlife. Two-hour trail rides go out at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM and cost $110. They also have pony rides for kids 2-8 years old. These are short and go between 10 am and 4 pm and cost $12/child.

You can walk around the property after your train ride or horse ride. You can take the catwalk above the pens to see all the farm animals.

There is also a restaurant on the property. We've never eaten there, but their ribs won Rib Fest in 2013, and their Bison Burger was named best Burger in Wyoming in 2009 by Bobby Fley.

There's enough to do here to spend at least a weekend, and the Ranch offers cabins, RV sites, and tent sites. They host drive-in movies and even their Rodeo in the summer with open registration.
