Chicago's Art Institute is Chicago's premier hub for culture and art.

The Art Institute of Chicago has made art enjoyment and education easy and fun for all visitors. The museum offers inspiring exhibits, self-guided tours, a learning center, and a wide variety of art to capture everyone's imagination.

Entrance

There are two entrances to the museum that are easy and accessible for families. Enter right off of Michigan Avenue, up the steps between the large lions perched at the door for a more dramatic entrance. For a more accessible, low-key access,  walk down E. Monroe Street and enter through the Modern Wing.

Exhibits

Downloading the Art Institute app will make navigating more manageable and ensure that you are experiencing the most exhibits. It is easy to get overwhelmed with all there is to see. So, using the map (paper or in-app) to see what there is to see will help you plan your visit most effectively.

Learning Center

When open, the Ryan Learning Center of the Institute offers families a space to let little ones explore more freely, and older kids engage in a more hands-on experience. Currently, the learning center is opening only on Saturdays, from 11:00-3:00 pm, for drop-in studio projects.

Cafe

The cafe will be the go-to place to grab a quick snack or treat when open. Check the hours as they do vary.

Gift Shop

Finally, stop by the gift shop if you want the best gifts and souvenirs. You will find prints, books, and toys to commemorate your visit to the museum, and to Chicago.
