For a polished, yet kid-friendly dining experience, this is a great option.

The Hamilton is a lovely, large space in downtown DC, not far from so many desirable DC activities and destinations. There are museums and popular DC destinations nearby in every direction, from The White House and Chinatown, Freedom Plaza and The National Mall are all within easy walking distance.

There is a kids' menu available, and the friendly staff is happy to provide crayons and coloring. It is a busy place, but there are booths and varied seating options to be sure every type of diner can have a great experience. They are welcoming whether you are in a big group seeking a full meal, or just coming during a slow period in the afternoon to get a treat for the kids. We have gone many times, and no matter what kind of vibe you seek, Hamilton delivers. I've been there for serious discussions over a long meal, dropped in with little ones and been there on various adult-only evenings at all different stages of my life, and it's always felt like an excellent choice.

The menu variety is great for families with different food preferences, and even the kids' macaroni and cheese is delicious.  You can get everything from a chicken Caesar wrap to a delicious steak, and everything in between. They even have an extensive sushi menu. Their adult beverage selection is excellent, and you can even stop in to get the kids a milkshake and check out their selection of Boozy Milkshakes for yourself! The Hamilton also offers great brunch options.

The National Children's Museum and National Portrait Gallery are both closeby.

The closest metro station is McPherson Square.
