The Point is a must-do in Harpers Ferry!

This memorable sight is in Harper's Ferry National Historic Park right where the little town comes to an end at the exact spot where the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers are one. Harpers Ferry marks the starting point of the Shenandoah as it meanders down through the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. The elevation of the town provides a spectacular view of the parting riverways. From this spot, you can see Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia and it honestly feels as though you are living in a completely different era - specifically the 19th Century! You can approach from the train station, or the visitor parking area in the other direction or directly from town.

Once taking in the views, you can descend the stairs (or walk around for additional access points that don’t require climbing). From there you can meander along the Shenandoah and put your feet in at the water’s edge. Wildlife abounds, as do the photo ops! Snakes, fish, and deer seem to be everywhere! There is always plenty to look at when you're exploring The Point.

The park was planned and implemented to honor John Brown for the raid of the Federal Armory in 1859. Wander the area and while you're at the park, make sure to go see Jefferson Rock, it's beautiful and also has exciting historical significance! Visit Creamy Creations after your visit to The Point to get a sweet treat, or take advantage of the opportunity to jump on the Appalachian Trail for a hike of any length!
