Skate Along the Potomac River at Washington Harbour Ice Rink in Georgetown!

Located right along the Potomac in the heart of Georgetown, this rink is one of the largest in the area, sure to impress kids of all ages.

At 12,000 square feet, the Washington Harbor Ice Rink offers a dazzling display of lights, music, and winter fun for the whole family. It’s a perfect spot to make memories with the kids, or a date night with a loved one. At night the rink comes alive with string lights and glowing snowflakes on the ice. The restaurants nearby are well adapted to the skaters and have outdoor seating with blankets, fire pits, and heaters so you can watch the kids or your friends while taking a break with a warm, winter drink.

The rink has special events each week as well, including Cartoon Skate every Saturday morning, 10 am-12pm, Rock N Skate every Saturday night, 8pm-10pm, Two for Tuesday Skate, 2 for 1 admission, and College Night Skate every Thursday evening – receive $2 off admission with valid college ID.

Because of how popular the rink is, it gets crowded often, so it’s better to buy your tickets online ahead of time and beat the line. The skate shop has skates for rent for $7, as well as gloves and socks for purchase for $4 a pair. Helmets and Penguin Skate aids are available for free on a first come, first serve, basis. Make sure to check in at the skate shop after arriving. The ice rink closes for 30 minutes after each 1.5-hour skating session to disinfect the equipment.

From November to March 1, you can rent skates and zoom with your little ones around the fountain. Little kids can hold onto a penguin that glides along the ice for support. The rink has weekly skating events, including a cartoon skate on Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm. Adult admission is $10.00 and child admission: $9.00. Seniors and Military can skate for $9.00. Skate rentals are $6. The rink also offers ‘Learn to Skate’ classes (check online for details).
