The Yards Park in DC's Revamped Capitol Riverfront Area has Water Features and Green Space
This large wading pool with a waterfall and "dancing fountains" is a great place to cool off on the beautiful Capitol Riverfront. Ideal for elementary school children and under, but also a nice place for adults to relax and cool off. There is typically a very nice breeze coming off the river even on hot days, and there are shaded tables from which to watch your little ones splash. During warm weather, outdoor bar/food kiosks face the water front just steps away, and several large grassy areas are ideal for playing, picnicking or just lounging and drying off before you depart.
This riverfront spot is a great destination for relaxing and playing in this premiere location. There are also public restrooms next to the kiosk dining area, and public restrooms in the Lumber Shed building with an entrance between Due South Restaurant and Agua 301's outdoor patios (separate from the restaurant entrances).
The Capitol Riverfront and Yards Park are known for amazing special events throughout the year, like Ice Yards, Side Yards, movie showings, live music and much more. They even have dog scavenger hunts! Keep your eyes out for the movies and games they host at the park also. Dogs are allowed in the park but they must be leashed. Dogs aren't allowed in any of the water features.
We recommend Due South if you're looking for a meal after playtime. Their southern comfort food always pleases. There is also an Ice Cream Jubilee literally steps from the park if you're looking for a sweet treat on a hot day
Parking lots are available between Yards Park and Nationals Ballpark and are first-come,first-serve. The rate is $2 an hour for a max of 3 hours or a $35 flat fee during baseball games or other special events. There is also limited metered street parking.
