Great Spots for Family-Fun with Tweens in Baltimore.

Terrapin Adventures

If your tween is looking for some thrills, look no further than Terrapin Adventures. This park describes their ropes course as “aerial adventures made with only wood, rope, and cable”. Visitors can choose from a range of packages: conquer your fear by taking the leap off of their 40-foot zip line, tackle the entire course of all 34 obstacles, or do something in between. Whatever level of thrill you seek, Terrapin Adventures has a solution!

Paper Moon Diner

Paper Moon is an institution in Baltimore. Filled with wall-to-wall kitsch, you’ll have a blast seeing what hidden gems you can spy. Beyond the unique interior design, the food that the Paper Moon Diner serves is simply divine!

The Walters Art Museum

Filled with Eqyptian mummies, suits of armor, and bugs from around the world, The Walters is definitely a museum that your kids will be begging to see more of. Given the amazing collection and beautiful interior, it’s hard to believe that there’s no admission to enter.

Kilgore Falls

Kilgore Falls is a great hike for families with older kids. The hike is fairly short but can be made more difficult by incorporating river crossings and some scrambling over rocks. You’ll be rewarded with views of the beautiful Kilgore Falls at the end!

The Maryland Science Center

Baltimore has too many amazing attractions to pick just one favorite, but The Maryland Science Center is a great choice for tweens. The exhibits are interesting and informative and tweens are the perfect age to absorb some of the knowledge that The Science Center has to offer. You’ll be able to check out exhibits on dinosaurs, physics, the Chesapeake Bay, and more. Plus, the Science Center has a great IMAX theater where they play rotating films!

Katie Raspa
Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
