Check Out Tuckahoe Park in Arlington, Virginia

Nestled behind Tuckahoe Elementary School in a wooded area, this playground is small, but it really packs in the fun, especially for ages four and over. It is open 24-hours a day and located at 400 N Sycamore Street. There is a tall net climbing pyramid, a dish swing, spinners, slides, and a few regular swings (that include bucket swings and big kid swings but no baby swings). It also boasts an astroturf surface underneath the play area.

The playground may be quaint, but Tuckahoe Park is twelve acres full of room for you to play, jog, or relax for a picnic. There are two baseball fields, tennis courts, an ampitheater, and picnic tables.

Next to the playground, there is a short walking trail that also provides shade if you need a break from the sun or a place to stroll the baby to sleep.  There are no bathrooms on-site, but there are water fountains. There are porta-potties available during scheduled sports seasons, though.

If you want to grab a bite to eat before or after, make the short drive to Lost Dog Cafe for a delicious lunch or dinner or grab a pizza at Joe's. If you are ready to continue the adventure, stop at The Italian Store to pick up a delicious lunch and head over to Bon Air Park Rose Garden, one of our favorite places to picnic. If it starts to rain, Arlington Central Library is nearby, and a great place to spend a few hours with kiddos.
