A popular food truck-turned restaurant, Timber Pizza Co. serves up bubbly Neopolitan-ish pizzas fresh from the wood-fired oven. Timber’s second location, Turu’s by Timber Pizza Co., is located in Ballston Quarter Market, the largest indoor/outdoor eatery in the area with a variety of local VA/DC restaurants and food options. The line is always long but moves quickly, and you can choose from some of the best pizza in the DC area. There are vegetarian options (Green Monster is our absolute favorite) or if you’re feeling adventurous, try The Bentley with a spicy honey drizzle.

Finish your meal with a sweet treat from Ice Cream Jubilee, a modern twist on a traditional ice cream shop.

Ballston has so many great options for families. Before or after you enjoy your meal, check out MedStar Capitals Iceplex , located on the top level of Ballston Quarter. It’s open to skaters year round and you may even see the Capitals hockey team practicing. The Nook Ballston is steps away and is a great place to spend a few hours playing with young kids. If you want an outdoor adventure, try Mosaic Park (right around the corner from Ballston Quarter) or Quincy Park (a fifteen-minute walk).

After stints as a flight attendant, government consultant, and sales representative for a major running brand, Melody spends her days exploring and adventuring with the kids.
