hikes, run

The UNC Asheville Botanical Garden is located just a few minutes north of downtown and is a great spot for a stroll or to let your kids play in the stream. Small but beautiful, a half mile trail meanders down a gravel path over the 10 acre property (jogging stroller friendly) through many different species of native trees and plant, over bridges, through fields, and alongside a gorgeous stream. Gazebos, stone benches, bird houses, and old structures line the path making every turn a new discovery. Butterflies, Bumblebees, and birds are abundant in the spring and summer.

There is a large parking lot at the entrance to the garden and there is always a spot available. The gift shop and visitor center contain restrooms but the hours are seasonal and generally run 11AM-3PM.
