Vincent V. Abate Playground is an urban playground in McCarren Park with fun features!

This massive, super fun playground is located right in McCarren Park and has a ton to offer kids of all ages.  There are four fenced-in baby swing areas and three tiny playgrounds for the littles, which helps keep the older, more boisterous children in their own zone.  A playset will entertain bigger kids with features such as a twisting slide, monkey bars, a large play area, and more.

The park is shaded, has benches lining the fence, and a bathroom.  Visitors can also enjoy an on-site basketball court, a splash pad, a massive public pool open during the summer season, and a turf track and field nearby.   The best part is that it's located right off several main streets, so you can access many different dining options and public transportation pre- or post-play.

The park was pretty crowded when I was there on a beautiful autumn day, and I imagine with the pool being open, it only gets busier.

Emily Coleman
Emily Coleman is a Jersey girl born and raised who caught the outdoor bug upon moving to Vermont to pursue a degree in Adventure Education and Environmental Studies from Green Mountain College. She spent most of her years before college deeply entrenched in the world of competitive cheerleading before discovering a passion for outdoor sports including mountain biking, white water kayaking, bikepacking, backpacking, slacklining, rock climbing, and skiing. Having been surrounded by children her entire life in her mother's daycare, she always had a strong affinity for kids. She moved to the mountains of Jackson Hole after graduating to coach for the local Kayak Club during the summers and nanny in the winters. Becoming a part of the Happy Active Family team felt like the perfect collision of her passion for building strong community bonds and encouraging an outdoor lifestyle.
