Most parents would agree that kids + shopping = mayhem. But not so when families visit the flagship LL Bean in Freeport, Maine!

The world-famous LL Bean store (now, stores) in Freeport are super interactive, educational sites for children. Where else can you shop for outdoor clothing and gear while your kids are actually welcome to run, explore, and play?

First off, don't miss the trout pond in the middle of the store, directly under the main staircase. Any visit will find at least ten children gathered on the rocks, watching the fish. Head up to the children's section and you will find a huge chalkboard wall with chalk for children to draw and write while their parents shop for coats and boots in the adjoining children's outdoor section. You'll also find little wooden walking paths and homes for the children to race around. Finally, do not leave the store without checking out the massive taxidermy display of animals in the stairwell heading to the lower level nearest to the main entrance. Here you'll find a display of at least twenty wild animals, including a moose, a bobcat, opossums, and so much more. Each animal has a helpful placard that explains key child-friendly facts about it. A fun, educational treat for children (and adults) of all ages.

In addition to the flagship store, there is also a Bike, Boat & Ski Store, a Hunting & Fishing Store, and an Outlet all within walking distance. They containing even more taxidermy animals and various displays created with kids in mind.
