A great place to take in nature awaits at the storied Walden Pond.

Famous for once being the home of Henry David Thoreau – the esteemed essayist, poet, and philosopher, Walden Pond is a beautiful, very large pond with lots of trails to run or hike on. Aside from its historical relevance in American history and literature, it's a great place to explore and walk along the beach in any season. The walk around the pond is roughly a mile and a half with lots of offshoot trails to explore.

During the winter, the pond freezes over and you can find people ice fishing, playing hockey, and cross country skiing across it. In the summer it has sandy beaches with lifeguards. The park reaches its busiest times during summer and fall – coincidentally, it is a great time for hikes with beautiful scenery and easy trails for even the littlest of hikers!

When capacity is reached, the staff will close of the parking lot so be sure to get there early. The park system also organizes a bunch of events for children throughout the year so check their calendar! Note:  The main entrance gate locks at 5pm and the exit gate locks at 5:30pm.

The Head of Accounting and Boston Ambassador, Jenny has been living in Boston for almost 10 years. Before Boston, she lived in Washington, DC for 8 years, and previous to that grew up on Long Island, NY. Along the way, she spent a few months in Amsterdam with her family biking all around and exploring that beautiful city! Jenny has always enjoyed being active - from organized sports to jogging, and of course, being in the garden as much as possible when the weather is cooperative. She tries to include her children in all of her active hobbies. With two toddler boys, ages 3 and 5, she and her husband spend their time discovering new places and things to do in the New England area. Spending time outdoors in all types of weather and encouraging her children to love all seasons is very important to her - and so is helping and encouraging others to do the same. Jenny and her family love spending time at the beach, traveling, taking walks and hikes, and of course, finding new playgrounds!
