This PA country park located near Pottstown PA (about an hour from Philadelphia) is an oasis featuring, forests, meadows, wetlands, and a creek within its 535 acres!  As you enter, there's a nice playground and picnic pavilions adjacent to the parking lot.  There are trails off of the parking lots, including a boardwalk trail to a handicap accessible fishing dock along French Creek, two miles of which wind through part of the park. There's a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pit, and a quoit pit surrounded by some picnic tables.

The creek, which averages 15-20" wide and 18-24" deep can be a fun place for the kids to paddle in the water.  We spotted crawfish, as well as both big and small fish while walking in the creek. Classified as a cold water fishery, the French Creek hosts both cold water and warm water species.   The creek is also stocked with Rainbow and Brown Trout by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission (you will need a fishing permit for anyone age 16 and over).

There are bird, wasp, and bat boxes dotted throughout the park, which provide some good opportunities for wildlife spotting.  The trails for hiking are very manageable for little kids.  As an added bonus, Warwick County Park does not tend to get as busy as nearby French Creek and Marsh Creek State Parks.  If you want a bite to eat, you are also very close to historic St. Peters Village, with a village bakery and a nice restaurant with an outdoor dining deck.
