A great place to bring the whole family in Dumbo is Westville - you won't regret it!

When I asked some friends where they take their kids to eat in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn, they all agreed -- Westville! According to Westville, "life is simple" and as long as fresh and high-quality ingredients are used, meals don't need to be fancy. I couldn't agree more and neither could my palette and stomach last week when I popped into Westville for a weekday lunch after visiting Recess DUMBO, an amazing indoor playspace, located next door. The interior is call and minimalistic, with a touch of farmhouse. The food is indeed simple and locally sourced, with a huge menu section of "market vegetables" mixed with herbs, spices, and various cheeses. I ordered a chicken and mozzarella sandwich with a side salad ($14) off the special lunch menu of the day, and it was tasty and filling. While there is no specific children's menu, there is a plethora of small plates, appetizers, sandwiches, and cooked veggies that will please most children. While the restaurant is kid-friendly, it's still chic and yummy and is a perfect upscale yet casual spot for a family lunch or dinner.
