Woodridge Park is the 'Holy Grail' of playgrounds in the southeast metro area!

Woodridge Park has one of the dreamiest playgrounds in the metro area. When you pull into the parking lot you see the baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts. Beyond those areas, you will see a huge playground that every child will enjoy. The warming house for winter skating and sledding also houses bathrooms and drinking fountains. These features are a huge plus for any mom.

This is one of those parks that is perfect year-round. The 50 acres of park and playground to explore make it Cottage Grove's premier park. There is a huge sledding hill, a skating rink, and a playground to use in the winter. The warming house is a nice bonus. In the warmer months you can catch a high school baseball game, meet friends for a play date at the playground, or check out the walking trails and nearby pond. The outdoor lights stay on until 10:30, a huge plus if you have teenagers that want to skate or play basketball later in the evening.

The 23,000 square foot playground is huge and makes an impression as soon as you walk up to it. 100% of the playground is wheelchair-accessible, which is amazing. There are over 80 pieces of equipment of different varieties here. The music area here is large. Kids can walk or wheel right up to to the playset to play with the equipment. So much of this park is wheelchair-accessible, like the huge rocker that kids can wheel onto to rock back and forth. There's a giant tunnel that anyone can get into. My kids' favorite pieces are the zip line swings! They love doing the standing one piece and the chair version. There is a designated area for little ones, and a lot of the bigger equipment is toddler-friendly, as well.  There are benches surrounding the park, almost all of which are shaded. There are two pavilions: one is right next to the playground; a great spot for a picnic lunch or snack. Another nearby pavilion doesn't allow you to see the playground as well.

I highly recommend meeting some friends at this park for a morning or afternoon play date. You can easily spend hours at this park. Bring a picnic lunch and make a half-day of it. Don't forget to dress your child in a brightly colored shirt so you can spot them more easily amongst all the playground equipment. Ravine Park is right down the road, so you can easily visit two great parks while in this part of the metro area.
