College students know pizza, and in San Luis Obispo Woodstock’s is their favorite

Having graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo almost 20 years ago, I was curious on a recent vacation if the pizza from Woodstock’s would still taste the same - very slightly spicy sauce, sauce rolled into the crust, the perfect coating of cheese and a chewy yet crisp crust. We were pleasantly surprised to find that outdoor seating had been built and grabbed a picnic bench shaded by an umbrella for our early dinner. When the pizza came we all dove right in and everyone was in love at first taste. My kids are typically very picky about anything even remotely close to being spicy, but they loved the pizza even with its very slightly spicy sauce.

I’d also recommend trying their wildebread cheesy garlic bread sticks, cinnabread cinnamon dessert bread sticks and the strawberry fields salad. They also have a wide selection of beers on tap and weekly happy hour specials.

While the restaurant was pretty empty during our trip, once school is in session at Cal Poly, things can become very crowded downtown and at Woodstock’s especially. Take advantage of their online ordering system and plan ahead to avoid the crowd. Parking can also be congested, so take that into consideration as well.

When we returned from our vacation I found out that Woodstock’s has multiple locations in Isla Vista, Chico, San Diego, Davis, Santa Cruz and Pacific Beach. I’ll definitely be visiting the location in Davis for my Woodstock’s pizza fix!
