Small playground but loads of fun for the whole family.

Located in Cornelius, Bailey’s Road Park is a 66- acre park with a playground, trails, disc golf course, athletic fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts. The small playground area is themed as a farm. One structure looks like a barn with two slides and various climbing equipment. The second looks like a silo with steps, a ladder, and a slide. There are musical flowers, swings including two mommy and me swings, a pretend vegetable stand, and statues of pigs. Although the playground is small, the kids had loads of fun playing. The playground is well-shaded for the summer, and there are rocking swings around the border as well as a covered picnic area nearby. The nature/walking trail goes around the facility for 1.4 miles. A small section was made by a local Boy Scout and runs along a created habitat filled with bird and bat houses. The Caldwell Station Creek greenway runs through here if you’re looking for a longer walk or run well as the Carolina Thread Trail. The disc golf, a 21 hole course, is great for novice or beginner golfers. It is popular among the locals and it hosted both the Juniors and Grandmasters during the 2012 Amateur Worlds Championship. Everyone is friendly and helpful when you are trying to learn. There are several well-maintained restroom facilities around the park and picnic shelters. The sports fields are mainly used for soccer and are completely turf as well as some baseball field. Local leagues mostly use these but anyone can use them to play or practice on. There is a concert shell where the city has held concerts and festivals in the park such as Octoberfest and Symphony in the Park.

There are plans for new phases of the park. In these phases the park will more parking, converting the tennis courts to pickleball courts and making new tennis courts, an observation area, and a restaurant.  Look forward to these new phases of the park soon.

Bailey’s Road Park is definitely a park worth stopping by and having some fun. Plus it's close to downtown Cornelius with a brewery and good eats.
