Lots of activities to explore at this park for the whole family, including your dog.
Located just 20 minutes north of the city near 485 and I-77, Clark’s Creek Community Park is a popular hangout. This community park has a playground, spray ground, dog park, eight pickleball courts, basketball court, restrooms, loop trail system, and community garden. Clark’s Creek Community Park is located right across from the nature preserve and is 31acres of family fun. The playground is built into a hill with turf grass, metal slides, rope climbing, and steps. The playground area is covered in pour-in rubber along with natural elements. A large climbing structure, swings, and a seesaw are opposite to the hill. The large splash ground is perfect for those hot summer days. Neither the playground or splash area is covered, so bring sunscreen when visiting the park. The picnic areas, however, are covered to beat the heat. The large barn area is where the restrooms are found. They are cleaned and well-maintained.
The pickleball courts were very popular, and almost all the courts were filled. Want to learn to play or are you a pro already? You can join the Pickleball Adult League. You can find more information about that here: https://www.mecknc.gov/ParkandRec/Athletics/Adult_Athletics/Pages/Pickleball.aspx
There are two loops to walk on around the park. The smaller loop is around a quarter of a mile and is completely paved while the larger loop is around half a mile and not paved. These are perfect to bring bikes or scooters to go around. Across from the playground and parking lot are the large and small dog parks. These are large and perfect for your pup and well-shaded. The parking lot is really small and can get crowded pretty quickly, so on popular summer days or really nice days, get there early to get a spot.
Want to try your hand at gardening but don’t have the space? Get a plot at the Clark’s Creek Community Garden. They even have a Facebook page to connect with other plot owners. For more information email the parks department at Park-Admin@mecklenburgcountync.gov.
This is a great spot to come play and enjoy the day. Also, check out across the street the Clark’s Creek Nature Preserve for a family-friendly hiking and a small playground.
