Cornelius Road is an awesome park with many fun options for the whole family.
Located just off on I-77 on Cornelius Road, the Cornelius Road Park has a playground, walking track, picnic shelters, baseball fields, disc golf course, multipurpose field, tennis courts, and free WiFi. The playground area is fully fenced in and has two play structures. The smaller structures geared towards preschoolers with several slides, steps, and climbing. The larger play structure has several tall slides, steps, climbing, ropes, music station, and pretend play. The play structures are set to look like tree houses. The ground is the poured-in rubber which is great for not getting muddy. There is only one way in and out with a gate that locks so it can't just be pushed open. There are several benches inside the playground and a couple of mature trees. The playground itself is most in the sun so it can pretty hot on warm days. There is a large covered picnic shelter at the entrance/exit of the playground as well as the restroom and a concession stand.
There is a one mile paved walked way great for pushing a stroller, biking, scootering, or just a walk. The walking path goes around the playground, baseball fields, dog park, tennis courts, and the parking lot. The path goes along the tree lines so it can be shaded for parts of the day and other times it can be hot during the warmer month with the lack of shade.
There is an 18 hole disc golf course. The course is both challenging and fun for both beginners and novice alike. The course takes you in and out of the woods for complex shots. The baseball fields are mostly used by leagues but can be enjoyed by the public. The open multipurpose fields are great for older kids to practice or play games on.
This is a local favorite park and we can see why. Check this park out for your next family outing.
