Is your kid obsessed with dinosaurs?  Load the car and take the one-hour road trip up north on I-87 to Lake George for Dino Roar Valley at Lake George's Expedition Park. It is a walkable safari with animated LIFE SIZE dinosaurs that move and make sounds.  My 3-year-old was scared at first, but by the 5th Dino sighting, he was a super fan. The route is small enough that we ended up doing two times around. There is one admission price and you can go around as many times as you like. The safari loop itself is a half-mile shady nature trail and an accessible walk to stroller and/or wheelchairs.  If you were like me and forgot your stroller they have a stroller cart for rent for $10.

In addition to the safari, they had cute stops for the kids along the way. They had a small play area called the Dino nest where they could climb, ice cream stands and shows at Roary's stage.  For an additional cost, the kids could dig fossils and participate in explorer workshops.

Also inside Expedition Park is Magic a Forest which is an amusement park for younger kids. The rides are geared toward younger children and a combo pass can be purchased at a discounted price when combined with Dino Road Valley.

Finally, the park offered a small outdoor petting zoo with alpacas!

Grab lunch a mile down the road on Lake George’s waterfront!
