Cavalliere Park Has a Fantastic Playground for Summer Play and Beautiful Views of the Mountains.
Located northwest of Phoenix, in Scottsdale, George 'Doc' Cavalliere Park is a small 34-acre park featuring a playground, walking trail, basketball courts, picnic areas, two drop-in ramadas, and restrooms. The playground features two play structures. The first, geared toward preschool age, has slides, climbing, steps, and interactive play stations. The second, geared towards elementary age, has a slide, steps, climbing, musical station, fireman's pole, and interactive play station. The surface area of the play area has poured-in rubber and a sandy area. Bring sand toys to play with, as that is always a hit with young ones. The best part of this playground is the large pavilion over the top of the play area. This is perfect for beating that summer heat.
Next to the playground is a big artificial turf space to run around, or you can bring a picnic blanket to have lunch or a snack. In the summer, they have pop-up sprinklers for some water fun on the turf. The bathrooms are just a short walk away. There are plenty of shaded places and picnic spaces in the park too. The basketball courts are close by and are lighted. This is great for nighttime play when the weather is cooler.
There is a one-mile walking path with a mix of paved walkways and natural surfaces. You can get beautiful views of the mountains, architectural elements and spot local wildlife along the way. Bring water and wear sunscreen as there is hardly any shade on the walk. Do be aware of snakes during the warmer season. Stay wildlife aware.
George 'Doc' Cavalliere Park is a local favorite. Check this park out for your next family outdoor adventure. With some unique features and a shaded park, it makes for a great year-round space for the family to enjoy.
