Goat Island Park offers a little something for everyone to enjoy, including a playground, trails, and disc golf.

Located in the small town of Cameron, just west of Charlotte, Goat Island Park is a 30-acre park in the middle of the South Fork River. The park has a playground, greenway access, restrooms, picnic areas, a fishing pier, a fitness pavilion, cornhole courts, and an 18-hole disc golf course.

The playground features a large rope climbing structure with a course, swing set, a smaller play structure with slides, steps, ladders, interactive play stations, and a rock dome. The play areas are filled in with mulch but do lack shade. This is great for the winter, but not so much for the summer. Fortunately, there are shaded picnic spaces nearby to take a break from the sun. The playground is laid out well so that no matter where you sit, you have a great view of the space to watch the kids. The adult fitness area is close by the playground, with several stations to enjoy and shaded with an awning during the warmer months. There is also a great 18-hole disc golf course that is good for beginners and advanced players alike.

The Goat Island Greenway is a 0.7-mile one-way paved trail part of the Carolina Thread Trail. Two pedestrian bridges cross over the South Fork River to take you to each side of the island. This is a fun spot to check out the flowing river. Since it's a short walk, it's great for pushing a stroller, walking, running, and bike riding. Being along the river, you can spot quite a bit of wildlife. There is also a fishing pier and kayak/canoe launch to the river.

Goat Island Park is a fantastic spot to play, enjoy nature, and get some exercise. Check it out for your next family outing after heading into Belmont or downtown Cramerton to enjoy shops and eats.
