A place the whole family will enjoy!

Located just 30 minutes from Winston Salem, Greensboro Science Center is a 12-acre zoo, aquarium, and science center all in one location. The zoo is home to animals such as meerkats, lemurs, gibbons, tigers, maned wolves, red pandas, and farm animals. The aquarium features a variety of fish, sharks, stingrays, otters, penguins, and a fishing cat. The large tank in the aquarium is just memorizing watching all of the animals swim around and who doesn't love waddling penguins. While the museum, which is located in the same building as the aquarium, has interactive exhibits on dinosaurs, weather, the human body, reptiles, and amphibians. These interactive exhibits keep kids entertained while learning at the same time. The kids always leave knowing one fun fact.  The Omnisphere is a state-of-the-art theater showing a 3D, laser, and full-dome shows. Take a walk on the wild side and do the SKYWILD treetop adventure park where participants get the opportunity to go above the zoo and walk the ropes course.

Greensboro Science Center offers field trips, animal outreach, distance learning, classes, and brick engineering and robotics. They are also a part of the Eco Explorer, an initiative with the NC Arboretum, that allows kids to be citizen scientists.

There is a restaurant at the Science Center, but outside food and coolers are welcome. The facility is stroller-friendly, and there are changing rooms in every restroom. There is a private area for nursing mothers upon request.

My family could spend the whole day here and I am sure yours will too. This is a perfect family outing and has a little bit for everyone. Afterwards head into the town of Greenboro and check out some local eats or treats. You can follow the Greensboro Science Center on Facebook and Instagram @greensborosciencecenter.
