Hagstrom King Park is a great choice for keeping kids active in the SE metro.

This neighborhood park might not seem like much, but it had the girls asking me over and over if we could come back another day...and keep in mind, this was after they played here on a zero-degree wind chill day! This park and playground sits right on the main road, so you can't miss it. It's not far from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, so if you're flying in, this is a great choice if you have a rental car and want to stick close to your hotel.

It featured a playground with fairly standard equipment, along with some cool bonus surprises. Of course, the kids loved the climbing ladders, slides, and main playground area. Then, their eyes nearly popped out when they saw it has two little ziplines! This is one of our newest favorite features in a great playground and I can't emphasize enough how excited the girls are when they find a zipline. Now, these zip lines are built for kiddos, so don't expect some huge, crazy jungle zipline. These are tame, but they're still tons of fun for every kiddo that I know. Another cool feature was what I call a "basket" swing. It's not a tire swing and doesn't spin, but it is shaped like a circle, and the kids go crazy for these. There were regular swings too, of course. Another beloved feature was a small, two-person teeter-totter. These are becoming more a rare find nowadays, so the girls were thrilled by this.

There is ample parking here in a small on-site lot. We did not see restrooms, though as is always the case in winter in Minnesota, the parks department very likely brings in Porto-Potties in the springtime. This park is easily located right on the main street.

If you're longing for more adventure after visiting this park, head over to the nearby Airport Dog Park to watch huge jumbo jets taking off and landing. It's surely a thrill for all airplane lovers!
