Hard Rock Cafe in Pittsburgh does not disappoint!

This spot follows the formula that has made the Hard Rock Café franchise so successful - good food and a great atmosphere.

What we particularly loved about the Pittsburgh location was its waterfront location on the Monongahela River as well as the amazing fountain (complete with water show), located directly in front of the outdoor dining area. (The kids went nuts every time the fountain started up!) Right behind the fountain, you’ll also find the Three Rivers Heritage Trail - a paved path along the river that makes a perfect spot for a stroll when you’re done eating.

What makes Hard Rock a great pick for families is the large dining area (both inside and out) that easily accommodates larger groups with possibly rowdy members (e.g- your kids). There is also enough visual interest in the form of Rock and Roll memorabilia to keep kids and grown-ups busy looking and talking while you wait for your food. (Your kids will for sure love your stories about your first Michael Jackson tape or record.) If you go at an off-peak time, you are welcome to walk around the restaurant and get up-close glimpses of some of the amazing items including a KISS drum set, Michael Jackson’s hat, and glove, and more.

On a more practical level, Hard Rock offers a kid’s menu in addition to its adult menu. Young rockers can enjoy chicken strips, burgers, and more, all served on an adorable plastic guitar plate that is sure to delight. The food that we had during our visit was all beyond delicious. Even the kids’ chicken strips were next level.

As expected, the crowds at Hard Rock follow the typical restaurant schedule. You may encounter a wait if you want to dine with them on a Friday or Saturday evening during the dinner rush, but you’ll most likely be able to get in with little to no wait at any other time. We visited at around 4:00 on a weekday before riding the Monongahela Incline and we practically had the restaurant to ourselves.

Hard Rock Café is an excellent choice for any family in the Pittsburgh area- visitors or locals-that want to enjoy a delicious meal in a fun spot.

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
