Have fun at the Harrisburg Park play space all year long!

Located in Harrisburg, right off Highway 49, Harrisburg Park is a 35-acre park with a playground, splash pad, walking trails, multi-use fields, amphitheater, green space, picnic shelters, and restrooms. The playground (new in 2020) is partially fenced with two play structures, merry-go-round, swing sets, and music stations. The first play structure you will notice is the two-story large play area with a big tube slide, several other slides, climbing, fireman's pole, ladders, steps, a ramp, and interactive play stations. The smaller structure, geared towards toddlers, has a slide, logs to climb up, steps, and an interactive play station. The surface area of the playground is artificial turf which is great during the summer when kids are running back and forth from the splash pad. The playground area, however has no shade, which is great for the winter but brutal for the heat of summer. The swing sets have traditional ADA swings, baby swings, and mommy & me swings. This is a great playground for kids about 12 and under. Around the playground is plenty of bench seating with two picnic shelters nearby to use.

The splash pad is a short walk away from the playground and is fully fenced in. They have large sprayers, dump buckets, a slide, and plenty of space to move around. There are picnic tables inside the area, along with shade awnings. Now the splash pad does have timed entry with a limited amount of people allowed in at a time. The splash pad is open Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. The splash pad is free for residents and $3 for non-residents. Children under a year are free.

Between the splash pad and playground, you will find the restrooms and a large covered picnic area. There are plenty of paved walking trails that go in and around the park. During the summer, there is just a lack of shade at this park, so come early or later during the summer to beat the heat. There is a large green space near the playground so bring a kite on a windy day, a ball to kick or throw around, or throw down a blanket and have a picnic.

The city host events and festivals throughout the year at the park, like the Golden Egg Hunt, July 4th celebration, Multicultural Festival, concerts, and more. The large amphitheater is a staple during these events.

Harrisburg Park is just an overall great park to visit any time of the year. Check out for your next family adventure. I know it's one we visit frequently.
