Hours of entertainment await at this fabulous playground.
Adjacent to the Hearst School and across the street from Sidwell Friends, this playground has two distinct areas for different ages. A play area designed for little ones is fenced within the external fencing, delivering a degree of separation for the age groups. This playground gets busy (for good reason), so it also helps keep your toddlers from wandering or slipping from view.
The climbing structures in the main play space are both challenging and fun for big kids and feature a good-sized slide. There are a string of swings and very large climbing rocks. In the separately fenced area for smaller kiddos, there are bucket swings, a creative structure with two slides and little playhouses.
Picnic tables sit next to covered bench-style seating. While the coverage doesn't provide much shade, it helps when the sun is at its strongest. There are also benches under a pergola in little kids' play area.
The playground's close proximity to a very large basketball court with numerous hoops as well as an awesome turf field makes it ideal to keep children of all levels and ages happy and active for long periods of time. There was a fun, casual soccer game going on which the kids were excited to jump in on.
There is so much more to enjoy on the rec center grounds!
Grab food at Cava Tenleytown or Surfside Tenleytown, which are each around a ten-minute walk. The Tenley-Friendship Library is also nearby, and under twenty minutes on foot.
The closest metro is Cleveland Park.
