Often lauded as Austin's favorite pizza joint, Home Slice makes a great pie!

The original opened on South Congress Avenue years ago, but the newer north location is a better option for a sit-down meal with the kids. Inside manages to find the right spot between old-school Red Sauce and kitchy camp, while the outside area is well-shaded with a relaxed vibe – even as kids run and plaly; dogs are allowed on the patio. Of course, the space's biggest selling point for kids, besides the New York-style slices, is the turf-covered berm playscape just to the right of the outside bar. Kids of all ages are often found climbing, tumbling, and sliding down the slopes at this safe but adventurous play area.

Aside from delicious pizza, Home Slice also makes gooey, warm subs, satisfying salads, and doughy garlic knots. Adults will also enjoy the full bar – they make a decent cocktail too. Definitely worth the wait, if there is one.
