Ahoy matey! Come aboard and let's set sail at this fun-themed playground at Leinbach Park.
Located northwest of downtown Winston-Salem, Leinbach Park has a unique playground that everyone will enjoy. As you pull into the parking lot, your eye is immediately drawn to the playground and you find yourself wondering if water dis nearby. This playground looks like a ship ready to dock into port. This structure has bridges, slides, climbing structures, and amazing swings. The ship offers three stories of fun with multiple awnings and covered areas, a covered slide with see-through sides, a smaller slide, multiple ladders and climbing for all ages, stepping stones to work on balance, a bouncy bridge for walking across, a rock climbing wall, a periscope, a ship’s wheel, and other interactive elements. There are multiple swings beside the playground as well as one large rope swing for groups of children to swing on. The playground area does not have shade, but smaller trees surround the park to find shade when it gets too hot.
Even though you are drawn to the playground, this park offers a walking track, tennis courts, and a large covered picnic area. The shelter makes for a place for large families to gather outdoors. Near the shelter, there is a sand volleyball court or sandpit for the younger kids. The walking track goes around the whole park and winds around the tennis courts and shelter at approximately half a mile long. This is a natural surface path with small gravel and sand. A jogging stroller would easily go around this path. Public restrooms are available and well-maintained.
This park has a little bit of fun for the whole family, and it’s worth spending several hours here.
