Ojibwe Park has many different options for fun family recreation!

This park is really, really fun! The options here are pretty varied, especially for a suburban park right in the heart of town. Of course, the first thing the kids noticed was the awesome playground. The equipment was all clearly super new and high quality and the kids took notice. It had one of the newest popular items, a spinning tree as the girls call them, though this spinning tree was actually shaped like a circle, which was fun and different. The spinning trees are playground items that usually have different levels to climb into, and have many ropes crisscrossing the outside and inside of them, so kids have the chance to climb quite a few different ways. Unique to this playground, there was what I call an obstacle course. The kids, of course, were totally delighted with this option. It had little toadstools to walk on, a balance beam, wiggly toadstools, and rounded/rainbow-shaped climbers as part of the mini obstacle course. Of course, both kids were drawn to these. There was also a giant climbing structure (a lot like the mini spinner, though not able to spin, and it's topped off with a tall double slide. Well, double slides are a bit of a favorite for our crew, as they allow for racing down together. Even mommy raced the kids down! It was a blast.

A really special item here was the pristinely cared-for outdoor ice skating rink, which was nearly empty. I was kicking myself for not having grabbed our skates on the way out the door, but now I know for next time. It looked super fun, and located right adjacent to the rink was a gorgeous, brand new warming house with restrooms. The warming house is a huge bonus, as our winters are frigid. Even just having the chance to warm the kids up for a few minutes is a huge, huge advantage to any park. This park also offers cross-country skiing trails!

As for the warmer months, this park offers hiking and walking trails, grills, an open-air shelter, picnic tables, sand volleyball courts, soccer fields, a horseshoe park, and a skate park.

Note: this park is very close to the high school, so it's likely to be much busier during after school hours.

After enjoying Ojibwe Park, cruise over to Dorothy Ann Bakery & Cafe for an extra special sweet treat!
