Top 5 Baltimore for Teens

Miss Shirley’s

Miss Shirley’s is truly a Baltimore institution. The restaurant started with one small cafe and has expanded to three locations after word spread about their delicious food. They specialize in breakfast and brunch, but lunch is also available. There’s often a wait, but we promise that it’s worth it!

American Visionary Art Museum

The American Visionary Art Museum, or AVAM, describes itself as “America's official national museum and education center for intuitive, self-taught artistry”. You won’t find any Monets or Picassos there, but you will find wacky and wonderful art from a variety of innovative, lesser-known artists. AVAM is a great choice if you’re looking to break out of the rut of traditional museums and explore a different side of the visual arts!

Soldier’s Delight

This Natural Environmental Area covers 1,900 acres of serpentine barren. The landscape is unlike most others in Maryland is a great spot to check out with older kids. You’ll find that there isn’t much shade so it’s best to check it out on a day that’s overcast or cooler, but you won’t regret hiking this unique trail!

Autobahn Indoor Speedway

Kids ages 13 and over will love driving go-karts that reach up to 50 miles per hour at this indoor racetrack. (Younger riders 8 and over can drive karts that hit 25). Kids over 13 can also try their hand at axe throwing. If your teen is looking for a thrill, Autobahn is the place to go!

Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum

Baltimore is known for Camden Yards, but head down a side street near the stadium and you’ll find another hidden gem. The Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum is a fascinating look into the life and career of Baltimore’s baseball hero. If you’ve got a sports-loving teen, the museum is a must-see!

Katie Raspa
Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
