This river trail is an absolute blast for nature-loving families!

This year, we discovered a brand new spot right in Whitefish, and I can't believe we never noticed this place sooner. We found Baker Park Playground this year, and when I looked on a map, I noticed it appeared to be right next to a beautiful river trail, so I figured we'd head down to the river and explore. Well, we had an absolute blast!

I've long known my kiddos are huge fans of river exploration. They don't always have to swim in order to have fun splashing, searching for and observing animals (even bugs!), poking at leaves and bubbles, and playing creatively with pebbles, pinecones, sticks, leaves, and more. And this river trail offered all this fun, and more!

The girls spent hours playing by the riverside as we walked the trail. There's a dock right off the trail, and we sat on the dock and played with leaves, sticks, and pebbles. The water in the Whitefish River was actually very clear, so the kids had fun searching for, and picking out different colored pebbles. They collected feathers of all colors and stirred the river with big sticks. We listened to the sounds of nature and felt the different textures on the ground and in our nature finds. We also watched the ducks and the kids made up stories about the ducks having a ducky wedding and preparing for their party. I couldn't believe how much fun this simple river trail was. We had a lovely time. We had so much fun, we returned to the river a second day during our stay in Whitefish.

The trail itself is stroller-friendly and is a very close walk into downtown Whitefish.

After enjoying this lovely river trail, I highly recommend heading over to Jersey Boys Pizzeria downtown for some cheap, delicious pizza slices!
