Family owned and operated farm with a pumpkin patch, playground with big slides, farm animals, and country store.
Just 40 minutes northeast of Charlotte, Riverbend Farms has been serving the community for 28 years as a pumpkin patch. Before doing pumpkins, they grew everything from strawberries, apples, greens, corn, and more. There are several large pieces of farm equipment for the kids to climb on and check out such as a combine and big tractor. The farm has several animals to see such as chickens, turkeys, goats, and pigs. They even have some oversized (not real) animals to climb on. The kids (and adults too!) love the playground the best with various slides and bridges made from big black tubing. The slides come out of old silos that they have built stairs into. You can come play on the playground all year long; just call ahead and let them know you are coming.
The month of October is when most people flock to this farm. The 25-acre pumpkin patch is the place to find your perfect pumpkin. They have several varieties of pumpkins to choose from. There is a covered wagon ride that takes you from the entrance of the farm out to the pumpkin patch. From there you can spend as long as you want finding your pumpkin, taking pictures, and walking around. Once you are done, you just hitch a ride back onto the wagon and back to the main part of the farm. There is a small entrance fee to get into the farm and the pumpkins are only $0.40 a pound. Once you are done at the pumpkin patch, you can enjoy ice cream from the country store. There are a variety of treats and other country goodies.
This is one of our favorite places to visit and play during the fall season. Visit the patch, spend the day and support your local family farm.
