Sheep Bridge Trail

Stretch your legs and immerse yourself in nature in Alta, WY. Sheep Bridge Trail is a popular trail that follows Teton Creek through the woods and wildflower meadows. It’s perfect for all ages and skill-levels, as the trail is mostly flat and 4 miles long if done as an out and back. On the drive there you’ll catch glimpses of the Tetons. Wait until you get to the parking lot to take pictures because once you get there, you’ll be even more blown away by the views.

The parking lot is a highly populated area. There are other trails and a road that goes further down Teton Canyon. The trail head for Sheep Bridge Trail will be on the right. You’ll be able to spot it by the little bridge at the beginning. The parking lot has plenty of parking and public restrooms!

When I last visited this area, it had just snowed even though it was June! There is a long bridge crossing where you can watch the roaring water go underneath you and over rocks. The water was high enough that it was almost bridge level and all I could hear was the sound of the water rushing underneath me. The sound was calming and created a peaceful feeling in the area.

Sheep Bridge Trail is a popular dog walking area, so be prepared for lots of dog kisses and happy puppies! If you bring your dog, there is a perfect section for them to drink water and play in the creek. There are also other watering spots since you’re following the creek the whole way. This trail is a perfect way to get outside and adventure, especially if you’re short on time or just need a mellow day. It’s also a great way for young and beginner mountain bikers to experience single track if your kiddos are urging to go!
