It's hard to believe Storyville, an amazing indoor playground, is actually free!

Storyville is the most amazing free indoor playground you'll ever visit. Housed in the Rosedale and Woodlawn branches of the Baltimore County Public Library, the huge play space is meant to give caregivers a place to interact with their children to encourage play, creativity, language and learning.

The space is divided into different sections that make up the "town". Children and caregivers can explore a post office, theater, playhouse and backyard, oceanside or forest, construction zone and grocery store while there. There are so many fun options, it's easy to spend a couple of hours there.

Storyville is meant for young children so they allow only kids up to age 5. They are open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.,
Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It tends to be busiest on weekday mornings and weekend afternoons. If you want to have a quieter visit, try going when they first open or during non-peak times such as from noon-2:30 or 5:00-7:30.

The library offers a bathroom with changing room but you are not allowed to eat while inside. Make sure that the kiddos have full bellies before they start playing!

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
