Great Bar-B-Que in Driftwood outside of Austin.

An amazing place to spread out to enjoy delicious BBQ on this large property.

Take a trip out to Driftwood, Texas on a delicious note with barbecue from this Austin institution (though it’s actually in Driftwood). This spot promises nearly a dozen meat options, with little frills that are sure to please all the carnivores in your caravan (veg options are limited to potato salad, coleslaw, and beans). Whatever you do, save room for the cobbler.

Like most eateries in and near Austin, the dining room at Salt Lick is currently closed, but take out is available, and – because the restaurant sits on a large parcel of land – the outdoor dining area is open to guests.

Incorporate a trip to Pioneer Town and 7A Ranch, or cool off in the summer or enjoy year-round hiking and recreation at Blue Hole Regional Park while youre in the general area. Alternatively just drop by Vista Brewing to load up on goodies, also in Driftwood.
