This playground is a knock-out hit for all kiddos!

When we planned to visit this awesome park and playground while in the Kansas City area, I actually had no idea it was built especially as an inclusive park. When I found out it was created by the wonderful Variety KC team out of a desire to include children of all abilities, I just fell even more in love with both the concept, as well as the place itself. Variety KC strives to help every child be active, be social, and belong. The playground was created to encourage kids of all abilities to play together, a worthy goal for certain.

This was actually the very first park we visited while in the KC area, and the kids honestly couldn't have been happier. And when my kiddos are happy (especially while on a road trip!) I'm a happy mom! This park has a great location, right in the heart of the tourist/hotel district on the Northern side of Kansas City. Keep in mind, while this park may have been made to include kids with special needs, trust me when I say your child doesn't have to have special needs in order to enjoy this lovely park.

This playground is designed around the theme of ships and underwater adventures, so the main playground piece is shaped and designed to be a giant ship. The girls and I found this to be so fun! Having a themed park always plants the seeds for imaginary play, which is just so important for kiddos.

This park seriously had way too many awesome features to list, but among our favorites were a plastic spinning merry go round, a swinging bench and circle swing, and a lovely musical play area. I've noticed lately some new playgrounds are including a musical area in their play, and I love this idea!! Music is so important for kids, and what a wonderful, creative playtime this encourages! Variety KC had giant xylophones, drums, and more, and the girls loved this area!

We really loved this park, and think it's a really neat spot in the Kansas City area for families. After playing here, head over to nearby Kate's Kitchen for some delicious eats!
