Bring your dinosaur-loving kids to this park! Everyone in the family is bound to have some fun here.

Located just south of the city center, Washington Park has walking paths, a dog park, picnic shelters, baseball fields, a basketball court, an exercise area, and one unique playground. This 75-acre park has paved walking paths that weave in and around the playground and link up to the greenway. There are a few pedestrian bridges that link the pathways over streams. The playground at Washington Park is so fun with dinosaurs within the park area. You have several dinosaurs to climb on; any kid would enjoy coming here. The large playground structure has several slides, big and small, monkey bars, tubes to go in, and swings. There is another structure that is a rock wall with a slide. This might be difficult for toddlers to do without some assistance. The playground area is filled with mulch and is well-maintained. There are many mature trees surrounding the park so there is ample shade. There are several swings along with some baby swings. The restrooms are right next to the playground.

There are a few covered shelters that can be used if not occupied, but they can be also rented out for your next gathering. There is an exercise area with some bars for pull-ups, push-ups, balancing, and sit-ups. Right next to the exercise area is the basketball court

Across from the playground, there is a pedestrian bridge that links you up to Salem Creek and Greenway. This greenway will take you by the Gateway Nature Preserve. If you continue on this greenway to the end, you will pass by several parks and end up at Reynolds Park. To do the whole greenway is 5.12 miles one way. This is a perfect greenway for a bike ride or scooter ride, or if you're enthusiastic, a run. Along the greenway at this section is the dog park and baseball field. Many pet owners were out with their furry friends, which is always a gentle reminder to teach your children about pet safety.

This is a great park to spend the morning or afternoon playing and getting some exercise. Once you are done playing at the park, head into town to enjoy local eats and treats.
