Enjoy a zoo day and see all the fun animals !

One thing we love about Zoo Boise is it's smaller than any of the other zoos we have been to so you can see the whole zoo within two hours and really enjoy all the exhibits. Zoo Boise has giraffes, Amur Tigers, a Red Panda, a Sloth Bear, Lions, Penguins, a Giant Anteater, a Snow Leopard, a Komodo Dragon, Monkeys, Zebras, Birds and much more.

When you arrive to the Zoo we love to make your immediate left and you will come to a Giant Giraffe Slide and lots of playgrounds for the kids to get their wiggles out before you start walking around. We’ve been waiting a while for the day the new 2.5-acre expansion of the Zoo Boise would open. We are excited to say it’s finally here, the new Gorongosa National Park Exhibit. The exhibit highlights the Gorongosa National Park from Mozambique, Africa. The Gorongosa was once one of the greatest parks in Africa but was destroyed during 25 years of war in Mozambique. The new exhibit will feature a variety of animals that can be seen in Gorongosa National Park, including African wild dogs, baboons, Nile crocodiles, vervet monkeys, spotted-necked otters, hyenas, warthogs, nyala and southern ground hornbills. The exhibit will also tell the story of the agricultural, medical and education programs that are in place to partner with the local people of Mozambique. We love to stop and have a snack in this area because of the beautiful murals all around.

Thursday is Family Day with discount prices and if you forget your stroller you can rent one for a small fee. As you exit the zoo, they have a very nice gift shop that you can get tons of gifts and stuffed animals.

We also love to hit up The STIL Ice Cream shop after the zoo on W Broad Street. The STIL uses locally sourced, high quality, real ingredients and nothing artificial, The STIL delivers expertly balanced flavors in a rich and creamy ice cream experience unlike any you’ve had before. They are known for pairing local and regional beer and wine offerings with their ice creams. Great finish to a great day!
