playground, road-trips

This park is a great stop for a road-tripping family, or any family looking to get active in the Kansas City area.

This park is in a really excellent location, close to the many hotels that dot the Northern side of Kansas City. We loved having a really great playground close to the hotel.

This park had a fun set-up for swings. There was big kid, and baby swings, plus there was a really interesting double swing, and the girls had a blast swinging together! It's amazing how much kids enjoy these simple little joys! This park totals 11 acres, so it's plenty of room for kids to run, jump, and play. The beautiful grassy area surrounding the playground is a prime space for playing catch together, hitting some tee balls, or kicking around a soccer ball. When we road trip, or are just playing in our own town, I always keep a few ball games in our car just in case the mood strikes. Due to us visiting KC in the winter, I had swapped out our tee-ball set for sleds and snowball makers, but it's the same general idea.

This park has some tree cover, but not a ton, so I do recommend you're mindful about bringing along sunblock and hats in the summertime, or layers in the wintertime. Parking here is ample, so there's no stress over finding a spot.

In addition to the playground equipment, this park also had plenty of BBQ grills for summertime (yes, Kansas City takes their BBQing very seriously!), picnic tables, and a covered picnic shelter you can pay to rent. There are also tennis courts up above the playground area, in case you want to hit some balls around the court.

After you're done climbing and sliding your heart out, head over to The Corner Cafe for some delicious down-home eats!
