A huge playground that is a must see in Salisbury!

Ben’s Red Swings is one of those special playgrounds that you just have to see to believe. It’s hard to put into words exactly how expansive the park is. The playground is constructed out of composite wood and features a variety of climbing and sliding options for kids of all ages.

While little kids won’t be able to resist climbing through the larger equipment, there is a special area that’s built just for tots, complete with a sandbox. The park also features swings as well as a misting station for hot days (a unique and welcome feature for those sweltering eastern shore summers!) The really cool thing about the park is that visitors can walk directly from the playground into the free Salisbury Zoo that adjoins it!

One thing to note, the park is huge. If you are taking more than one child, you may want to consider bringing an additional adult to help. At the very least, be sure to choose a meeting space in case you get separated. Our 5 and 7-year-old kids spent around 2 hours playing and STILL weren't ready to leave. We recommend visiting this park when you have a full afternoon to enjoy it.

The park has bathrooms that are open seasonally and features a variety of ground coverings including mulch, paved sidewalks and solid foam surfaces. If your kids work up an apetite while playing, Evolution Craft Brewing is a short drive away and offers great food and craft brews!

Our work in Baltimore is truly a family affair. Husband and wife, Matt and Katie, work together to head up our ambassador team in Charm City. Katie is a Maryland native and has lived in the state her whole life. She moved to Baltimore in 2007 after graduating from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She has been working in the field of early childhood education as a teacher and family coach for the past 12 years. Katie also holds a Masters of Education in Literacy from Loyola University. She is passionate about giving kids and families the knowledge and tools that they need to thrive. Matt grew up in the Highlandtown neighborhood of Baltimore. As a city native, Matt is a great resource on all that the city has to offer. After months of helping Katie explore the city for her role at a Happy Active Family, he decided to put his love of writing to use and officially come on board as an ambassador. Matt and Katie have two girls, ages 5 and 7. They spend their weekends camping, hiking, or exploring other hidden gems in their area. Tap into their insider knowledge by downloading the app today!
